So... after some time. A lot of time. A couple of years actually, I am posting something again. This is a 3D model that's been in development quite some time now. The idea behind it was to make the Cybertruck look less military while retaining the exoskeleton stainless steel design. I tried to soften the edges and add some funk, for it to be more easily consumable for the greater public. 

 

This is as far as I will be pushing this thing, as I have other projects I am working on. It would be great if someone wants to play around with it and maybe make some cool renders. I will make this model available, so let me know if you would like to have it.

Tesla Model Y design change

Tesla has released the highly anticipated model Y and unfortunately my fears have been realized. The vehicle looks like a bloated model 3 and has virtualy all parts in common with the model. While I understand the decision from bussines perspective it is quite underwhelming from design point of view. They could have easily used this opportunity to slightly updated the interior design instead of using the same model 3 interior that is rather unatractive.

So here is a proposal for the model Y. It has slightly higher ground clearance and longer rear overhang which gives it a more SUV like proportions. I do not dislike the current design, while not that much different than the 3 they could just call it model 3 Plus, add it to their lineup and continue developing the Y further. The competition will be ramping up after this year and Tesla will have to keep up with the styling offerings from the upcoming OEM entries in the field.

Spacex Second Stage Reusability Concept

     Something different this time around: a concept for Spacex' upper stage. The idea was to integrate all elements of the second stage into a single structure that can return to earth.

     To make the vehicle compact, Merlin engine was replaced with twelve SuperDraco engines that are placed on the side of the rocket, similar to their position on Dragon crew capsule. This configuration provides the vehicle with enough power to reach the orbit. Fairings are part of the vehicle now, although the top part can be switched to acommodate Dragon capsule. To save on weight there are no landing legs, a precision landing on a special platform that can safely catch the vehicle is used instead.

Tesla Steering Wheel Design

     I've never quite liked the Tesla interior design. It looks like something from the fifties with an iPad glued on top. I thought they would improve the interior styling on the new vehicles, but with all the recent observations of the upcoming model 3, that doesn't seem to be the case. I guess the frustration with Tesla's choices draw me to make my own take on some of the interior elements - the steering wheel in particular.
     The design is nothing special with no autonomy or any other features in mind. It is just the current design language in the automobile industry applied to Tesla. I made two versions for different preferences. Performance and Elegance.

Finally the next generation A5 came out! Yet there is already some controversy surrounding the design, especially the front end. Here are some quick renders that might show some improvements in that area.

   What if James Bond drove an electric Aston Martin? Since vehicles are slowly transitioning to electric propulsion eventually the beloved spy will have to jump over too. With all the gadgets in his arsenal it is kinda interesting this hasn't happened yet. But don't worry James, Q department is on it! Unfortunately tho, the government keeps cutting resources, so no new vehicles could be developed entirely from the ground up, instead our mastermind Q had to be particularly innovative. In order to complete the task, Q decided to use an existing vehicle. A smaller, more efficient model immediately came to mind with the Aston Martin Vantage. However, knowing our quartermaster, this isn't going to be just a straight forward electric conversion; a more radical visual change has to be made to the exterior to hide all the heavy artillery placed beneath the skin. Luckily the vehicle will retain the elegance factor for Bond to feel right at home!

Here are some sketches I made a while back. Representing different models like SUV's, a sports car, more crossover like X and a fun Model 3 production sheet. Just had to make something to curb my anticipation for the upcoming model. I made the specification sheet look like an official one sort off, -I conssider it fan fiction- while going with a quite conservative design for the car itself. I used a more spacius body type, like a sportback. It may not be everyone's taste and hopefully the production version looks way cooler!

The new Audi R8 is one of those vehicles whose reveal date just couldn't come soon enough. To shorten the long wait just a little bit I decided to make a render based on one of the spy shots floating around the web. Featuring some details seen in the latest concepts I tried to capture what might be the final production styling.
